Learning & Development

Our nursery is well resourced with plenty of fun things for children to do. Our boards celebrate children’s efforts, suit the children’s age groups and regular supplies are always provided.

We believe all children have the right to quality of education and we work hard to provide a wide range of this.

At our nursery we follow the ‘EYFS’. This is a recently revised curriculum which makes provision for children under the age of 5. There are 7 areas in total split in prime and specific areas. Children aged between 0-3 years would follow the ‘birth to three matters ‘statements (prime) . These are broken down to personal, social and emotional, communication and language and physical development. These areas set the base and foundation of any child.

Children aged 3-5 would have the additional subjects such as maths, literacy, understanding of the world and expressive arts and design. This helps prepare them for school readiness.

THE EYFS FRAMEWORK

Outdoor Learning

We have a small and colourful garden which has a growing patch which we use to grow crops and flowers when in season. We have a gooey mud kitchen to make potions and anything magical. The children have access to the garden area and can choose whether they want to play indoors or outdoors. During the colder winter months we go out for some fresh air as that is also important.

Trips & Outings

Throughout the year we arrange various trips to selected museums, theme parks, farms, libraries, holy sanctuaries and other topic related places. We order hatching kits for children to learn the process of a life cycle.

We also have some special days where zoo lab comes in with their pets to show the children how to care for living things.

Supporting Children with SEN

Children with SEN also get the experience of exploring textures and sensory play. We also use visual aids to support their learning and use timetables for all the children so that they can get additional support, especially our non verbal children. Each month we will choose a topic to teach children , alongside we also take children’s lead and plan spontaneously. Or watch over and observe and record how they play and what progress they are making. It is vital for us to get an accurate and a true understanding of where each child’s development lays.
